The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Thursday confirmed 938 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the country as against 1,131 reported on Wednesday.

The new cases which were confirmed via the health agency’s social media accounts on Thursday night now take the total number of infected persons in the country to 143,516.

According to the health agency,additional 8 deaths was recorded on Thursday with Lagos accounting for five taking the total COVID19 deaths in Lagos to 357 and 1,710 in the country.

The other three deaths on Thursday came from Oyo, Rivers and Gombe.

Of the new cases confirmed on Thursday,Lagos recorded 236 new cases followed by FCT with 123 cases and Plateau with 92 new cases .

Other States that reported new cases were, Benue-63, Katsina-53, Oyo-50, Osun-45, Kaduna-43, Edo-33, Ogun-31, Ebonyi-31, Akwa Ibom-30, Kano-26, Gombe-18, Bauchi-16, Delta-12, Imo-11, Cross River-10, Rivers-10, and Niger-5.

The NCDC also reported the discharge of 1,065 on Thursday who have been successfully treated according to protocols across the country moving the country’s total discharge to 118,012.

NCDC says Thursday’s discharges include 536 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.
