Additional 1,633 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in the country by the Nigeria Center for Disease control,NCDC on Saturday.
The health agency in it’s late night post said with the new cases Nigeria now has 120,602 confirmed cases out of which 95,901 have been treated in line with protocol and discharged.
According to the NcDC, Saturday’s discharges include 573 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.
Saturday’s cases were recorded in 20 States and the federal Capital Territory,FCT with Lagos leading with 498 new cases followed by Plateau with 214 new cases.
Other States with new infections are: FCT-176, Rivers-99, Kaduna-98, Edo-87, Anambra-86, Akwa Ibom-50, Osun-47, Kano-40, Oyo-40, Kwara-39, Ebonyi-28 , Niger-28, Taraba-28 , Ogun-27, Ondo-21, Ekiti-12, Katsina-7, Borno-6 and Delta-2.
Unfortunately, additional five people lost their lives to the virus even as the death toll rises to 1,502.
According to the NCDC, ” Through our rapid response teams, we continue to support states to respond to the #COVID19 pandemic.
” Last week, we worked with Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Public Health Department, Africa CDC and World Health Organization Nigeria to assess five health facilities in preparation for the pilot of the recently approved antigen-based rapid diagnostic test kits.
