Premier League champions Arsenal are reportedly plotting a move for Manchester United’s English-born Nigerian defender, Habeeb Ogunneye.
According to Telegraph Sport, the Gunners have identified the 20-year-old as a transfer target following United’s successful poaching of two of Arsenal’s academy talents in recent seasons.
Defender Ayden Heaven and striker Chido Obi both left the Emirates for Old Trafford, and Arsenal are now looking to hit back in the transfer market.
Ogunneye spent the first half of last season on loan at Newport County, where he made 21 appearances before being recalled by United in January.
The London-born defender has also been involved in United’s first-team setup, featuring in multiple matchday squads, including the FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City in 2024.
Internationally, Ogunneye is eligible to play for both England and Nigeria. He represented England at U17 level, making three appearances between 2021 and 2022.
As of 2024, the young defender was yet to decide on his senior international allegiance, with both the England and Nigeria football federations said to be monitoring his progress.
