Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled two separate abduction attempts and rescued 10 victims in Zamfara State.
The operations were conducted on September 27, 2026, in Maru and Tsafe local government areas.
In Maru LGA, troops of Sector 2 received intelligence that terrorists had abducted villagers at Kade Daba village, Kanoma District. Troops swiftly mobilised to the location, engaged the terrorists and rescued three victims immediately.
Further exploitation of the area led to rescue of an additional victim, bringing total rescued in the operation to four.
Similarly, troops of Sector 2 on picketing duty along Tsafe-Funtua road in Tsafe LGA heard sporadic gunshots ahead of their position at Kwanoni.
The troops immediately advanced towards the location and encountered terrorists withdrawing through surrounding high ground. Troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to flee in disarray, and rescued six victims.
