The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Ali Haruna for allegedly killing his girlfriend at a hotel in Girei Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in an interview said suspect who is currently assisting the police with investigations will be charged to court soon.
Nguroje said the command swung into action after receiving a distress call and, upon arrival at the scene, found the woman with a slit throat and severe injuries.
He explained that the victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment but was later confirmed dead by a doctor.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly made statements claiming responsibility for the killing after his arrest.
The police spokesperson also said the owner of the hotel remains in custody for questioning, while the command has commenced verification to determine whether the premises was duly registered with the Adamawa State Ministry of Commerce and Trade.
SP Nguroje added that a sharp dagger, allegedly used in the commission of the offence, was recovered from the suspect and would be preserved as an exhibit.
He urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to the police to help prevent and tackle crime.
