Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 21-year-old Samson Onilewaji after he was found with a suspected human hand, firearms and other items during a stop-and-search on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said officers stopped an unregistered commercial shuttle with six passengers and recovered a human right hand, two locally made pistols, a live cartridge, two axes, a POS terminal and five ATM cards.
The suspect allegedly confessed to robbing three persons and stealing the POS machine and ATM cards.
The police command has launched an investigation to identify the origin of the human body part and the suspect’s intended use for it. Detectives are also working to track down and apprehend other criminal associates linked to the case.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security across the state, with the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing law enforcement with information to help prevent violent crime.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged to court once the investigation concludes.
