The All Progressives Congress All Progressives Congress on Tuesday released its timetable for the 2027 general elections, setting a ₦100 million price for its presidential nomination form in what has become the highest fee across all elective positions.
According to the schedule of activities signed by National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, presidential aspirants will pay ₦30 million for the expression of interest form and ₦70 million for the nomination form.
The APC ₦100 million presidential form structure places a significant financial burden on aspirants seeking the party’s highest ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
Governorship hopefuls will pay a total of ₦50 million, while Senate aspirants are required to pay ₦20 million. House of Representatives candidates will pay ₦10 million, and State Assembly aspirants will pay ₦6 million.
The party stated that female aspirants, youths and persons living with disabilities will only pay for expression of interest forms and receive a 50 per cent discount on nomination fees.
Despite these concessions, the cost structure has reignited debate over the monetisation of political participation and its impact on internal democracy.
The party announced that the sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, with presidential primaries scheduled for May 15 and 16.
Governorship primaries are expected to hold on May 23, while other primary elections will be conducted within the same period.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the APC said the timetable reflects its commitment to a transparent and credible primary process.
Political observers note that rising nomination fees among major parties continue to raise concerns about accessibility for younger and less financially privileged aspirants.
The development is already generating reactions across the political space as Nigeria gradually builds momentum towards the 2027 elections.
