The leadership of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) have picked Mimiko’s former Commissioner for Works, Gboye Adegbenro, as running mate to Agboola Ajayi, candidate of the ZLP in the forthcoming governorship election.
Adegbenro is one of Mimiko’s loyalists who has stayed with him since leaving office in 2017.

According to sources within the ZLP, “there were about 3 candidates being considered by the National Leader, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, but Gboye stands out because of the sacrifice he made to drop out of the Senatorial race in 2019 and allowed Mimiko run for the seat.
Gboye is also loved by young people and politicians across party divides.”
Mimiko is expected to brief the major stakeholders of this development later.
