The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Saturday at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.

The meeting drew key party figures from across the state, including former governors Ahmed Yerima, Mahmuda Shinkafi, Abdulaziz Yari, and Bello Matawalle, alongside elected officials, party elders, and representatives of youth and women groups from all 14 local government areas.

Addressing participants, Governor Lawal described the gathering as timely, noting that political activities ahead of 2027 were gradually gaining momentum.

He said the state’s alignment with the APC was a calculated move to strengthen development efforts through closer collaboration with the Federal Government.

“Our decision to join the APC was not just political but a strategic move to support Zamfara’s repositioning. It positions us to work with the Federal Government, leverage national initiatives, and contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Lawal said.

The governor added that his administration remains committed to restoring stability, rebuilding institutions, and improving service delivery across the state.

He urged party members to uphold unity and discipline, stressing that internal democracy and transparency would guide party processes.

In a communiqué read by Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, the stakeholders said the meeting provided an avenue to deliberate on party unity, governance coordination, security challenges, and preparations for future political activities.

The communiqué also reaffirmed the stakeholders’ loyalty to the APC and their support for the re-election bids of both Tinubu and Lawal.
