Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved one hundred thousand naira for the Christmas bonus for all the state civil servants.
According to the governor, human capital development remains the fastest way to positively develop a city.
Nwifuru made the pronouncement on Thursday during the maiden edition of Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s pet projects tagged “The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS)” with the theme “Better Days Ahead.”
Governor Nwifuru, however, assured the state civil servants that he would upgrade them to meet up with their contemporaries in other states for the benefit of the still-growing state.
“I said the workers of this state must leave like others in this Christmas period; if you are celebrating the birth of Christ in your home and you gain in this festive period, you are not celebrating the birth of Christ. You are supposed to feel that this person who came to salvage your troubles should be celebrated.
“You need to be a blessing to your neighbours and your home. As a leader of this state, I have to be a blessing in the homes of everybody in this state, so it is not a privilege. The fact that I am the governor of this state does not mean that all the resources of this state belong to me.
“So sincerely, I have resolved with the cucus of this state that I have decided that every worker in the Ebonyi state government, not the local government, because I’m not in charge of the LGA, will get a 100 thousand naira package for this Christmas celebration.”
