Osun State Police Command has assured the residents of the state and media outfits in the state that adequate security measures have been put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
The assurance is coming on the heels of the recent attack on Amuludun radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State by Yoruba Nation Agitators leading to the arrest of five.
The Agitators also stormed the Alausa Police division in Lagos on Sunday and assaulted Police officers leading to the arrest of two.
Reacting to the incidents the Commissioner of Police in Osun, CP Patrick Kehinde Longe in a statement signed by the command’s Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola assured that adequate security have been put in place.
The Command noted that it was aware of what was happening in Oyo State concerning the Yoruba Nation agitators and warned all disgruntled elements that may have the mind of truncating democratic process of transition of power to jettison the idea forthwith.
He added that security agencies will use all legal means to uphold the democratic process in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.
“The Osun State Police Command is using this medium to assure the general public, especially the Media houses of adequate security measures put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the state as the Police Command is aware of what is happening in our neighbouring state concerning the Yoruba Nation Agitators who attempted to hijack one radio station in the early hours of today 28th May, 2023.
“At the same time, Police Command is using the same medium to warn all disgruntled elements that may have the mind of truncating Democratic process of transition of power to jettison the idea forthwith as security agencies will use all legal means to uphold the democratic process in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.
“The Commissioner of Police, therefore, enjoins the general public to continue with their lawful businesses and be law abiding citizens.”
