The briefing was made jointly with the state Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Ali Mustapha Goneri; Commissioner of Commerce, Kaigama Umar Yunusari as well as state Commissioner of Works, Engineer Umaru Wakil Duddaye.

The humanitarian affairs commissioner said the money was approved during the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni after submitting a memo by the ministry for multi-purpose cash assistance (MPCE) to 2024 flood victims in the state as a post disaster recovery strategy.

Dr Mairo noted that a survey has been conducted across 17 LGAs where 150 target locations have been identified so far.

According to her, a total of 1,500 flood victims in each of the 17 LGAs, 50,000 per head, will benefit from the cash support.

She revealed that, “The humanitarian ministry is working in collaboration with all other international organisation partners and some identified banks where the money will be sent directly to the beneficiaries,” she added.

On his part, the state Commissioner of works, Engineer Duddaye, revealed that at the State Executive Council meeting, the council has approved the rectification of the construction roads from Fika to Maluri and Gashua to Masaba respectively.
