Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Thursday swore in Dr. Mohammed Goje as the substantive Secretary to the State Government, SSG, alongside 13 other appointees at Government House, Damaturu.
The ceremony featured the inauguration of five Special Advisers, four Permanent Secretaries, two Commission Chairmen, and the Chairman of the Teaching Service Board.
Governor Buni said the appointments were based strictly on merit, competence and loyalty, describing it as a deliberate strategy to blend experience with young professionals to meet demands of a digital world.
“The Office of the Secretary to the State Government occupies a strategic position in governance. It serves as the coordinating office of Government,” Buni said.
He praised Dr. Goje, who served in acting capacity since April 29, 2026, as “brilliant, vibrant, youthful and energetic,” noting his sense of responsibility and loyalty.
New Permanent Secretaries are Hajiya Hadiza Sabo, Zainab Abdu Saleh, Abdullahi Barde Kukuri and Liman Ibrahim Ali. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani and Engr. Mustapha Umar Goniri were appointed Commission Chairmen, while Alhaji Modu Sanda Gulani heads the Teaching Service Board.
The Governor also named five Special Advisers and urged all appointees to serve with justice, transparency and honesty.
Buni reaffirmed commitment to completing legacy projects and strengthening agriculture and healthcare as his tenure winds down.
