Mrs Christiana Everest, mother of Tina Adeeyo, the new wife of Pastor Moses Adeeyo, General Overseer of World Bank Assembly, has spoken about her daughter’s recent marriage.

Present Times had earlier reported the marriage saga where an embattled Mr Bright Ben took to Facebook to accused his Pastor,Moses Adeeyo, the general overseer of World Bank Assembly Church, Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, of committing adultery with and marrying Tina who bore him two children.

Mrs Everest went on a Facebook LIVE broadcast to rationalize why Pastor Adeeyo was allowed to marry her daughter.

She explained that her daughter’s first husband, Bright Ben, didn’t pay bride price when he married her daughter 12 years ago, despite doing the traditional marriage and church wedding.

She went on to allege that her daughter suffered abuse from Bright and returned home multiple times, but Bright always came back to beg.

She said after the domestic violence meted on Tina in 2020, her daughter decided never to return to the marriage and their family has supported the decision.

She also referred to her daughter with her new husband’s name, “Tina Adeeyo”.

Tina Onyinyechi has also come out to narrate how she suffered domestic violence in Bright’s house.

In a video where she was weeping profusely, she claimed Bright put her in a lot of indebtedness.

She said she exited the marriage with her former husband because he never paid her bride price and also treated her negligently.

Among the reasons she gave was that Bright never paid the customary bride price on Tina and keeps hitting and has chased her out of their matrimonial home several times over.

She would borrow to feed the household and pay the Children’s school fees.

She said that Pastor Adeeyo Moses is the one that has taken it upon himself to pay off the debts she incurred while living with Bright.

“Feeding is a problem in the house. Ask Bright if he has given me money since eleven years I married him. I keep borrowing.”

“He forced me to leave Redeemed Church and forbade me from working or having people around me. He stopped me from doing my music. He beats me and everytime he does that I run to my mother’s house. He calls me a waste”, she said.

She claimed that Bright forced her into taking an Oath of Fidelity to prove that she was not committing adultery.

“But after then he became worst. He would lock me up . He totally neglected me. He chased me out of the house and vowed that he would put acid in my body cream”, she narrated

She also revealed how the elders in her Community dissolved the marriage and she relocated to Lagos to start life afresh.

But Mr Bright ,in a viral video, has debunked claims that he did not pay bride price.

He posted pictures of their traditional wedding and claimed that everything done was according to the customs of their community and that they also wedded in Church.

He has demanded that the proper thing be done as nobody served him divorced papers and insists that Pastor Adeeyo is commiting adultery with another man’s legally married wife.

In a related development , Peter Adesoji Adeeyo, son of the Pastor Adeeyo has taken to his Facebook page to reveal that his father did not divorce his mother before wedding the wife of his church member adding that his mother is still legally the Pastor’s first wife.

“My mother Mercy Adeeyo has not yet been divorced to her husband my father Pastor Moses Adeeyo,no settlement made yet, the matter is still in court. Tina Adeeyo is now the second wife while my mother is the first wife”, he wrote.

Despite this , Tina Onyinyechi’s sister, Elizabeth Okonkwo, has shown public support for her sister’s actions. “My brothers and sisters the person in question is my elder sister. She is no longer to Mr Bright. They even went to the village to do the proper returning of dowry but it’s unfortunate Mr Bright did not pay the dowry of my elder sister and my elder sister made it clear to the elders, sisters and uncles that she is no longer interested in the marriage. If you know the story you will shed tears for her. She is now married traditionally and also in the site of God and every one in the family is happy”, she said.

Pastor Adeeyo is yet to make any comment on the ongoing saga. He rather took to Facebook to share pictures of him and his new wife, Tina Adeeyo, clad in their traditional and their white wedding attires, with the caption “You make all things Beautiful in your time”.

Pastor Adeeyo is the General Overseer of World Bank Assembly he wedded Tina in a ceremony in his church on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
