Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the former governor of Anambra State, has not been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, debunked a blogger’s report about the arrest.
Online media had on Thursday reported that Mrs Obiano, who has been under investigation for alleged fraud, was currently in the custody of the commission in Abuja.
But Uwajaren denied the arrest “We do not have her in our custody”, he said on Thursday night.
Ebele’s husband, Willie Obiano was arrested in Lagos in March as he attempted to travel to the United States, after handing over to his successor, Chukwuma Soludo.
After his arrest, he was moved to Abuja, where he spent a few days, before being released on bail.
Ebelechukwu had picked the APGA nomination form to contest the Anambra North senate seat in 2023 elections.
