United States Chargé d’Affaires, Jimmy Mauldin, has met with religious leaders in Abuja to discuss ways of promoting peace, security and religious freedom in Nigeria.
The engagement focused on strengthening cooperation with faith and community leaders to address issues affecting peaceful coexistence and protection of freedom of religion.
The US Mission in Nigeria said Mauldin joined faith leaders in Abuja to advance efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and religious freedom, while supporting initiatives to reduce violence and strengthen respect for religious rights.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by Christian and Muslim leaders to build stronger partnerships around conflict prevention, social harmony and reducing religious intolerance.
The United States said it remains committed to working with Nigerians seeking to end violence and protect freedom of religion, while the engagement underscores the role of religious and community leaders in promoting peaceful coexistence.
