Senator representing Edo South Senatorial district, Matthew Urhoghide has denied allegations levelled against him by Minister of Niger Delta Affair Senator Godswill Akpabio that the NDDC awarded six contracts to any company owned by him.

Urhoghide who made the denial while speaking with journalists in Benin on Monday, said,’ let me say with all seriousness this thing deserves that Senator Akpabio is mischievous and I am very surprised at the way he is stupid and foolish when he knows the truth that I am not involved in any NDDC contract.

“Senator Akpabio should have realized that alot of us have intergity that we took a long time to build. I thought that Akpabio will be more responsible.

“So, NDDC never awarded any contract to any company owned by me. I do know of any company owned by me. Akpabio should go to the Corporate Affairs Commission,(CAC) to check if any company link to me is involved in NNDC contract

He warned that those who are alleging to defame him must be aware of the consequences.

He said that as a representative of his constituents, he has right to recommend projects in his constituency to the Commission for executions but cannot recommend any contractor to be used.

According to him, “some of the contractors do complain to me that they are not mobilized for their projects while some said they are yet to be paid for their jobs done.

I see Akpabio’s claim as a cheap blackmail, I believe he is a man who is drowning and want to drag any person in sight along which I will not accept and I am already discussing the issue with my lawyer”.
