The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested two suspects involved in separate cases of rape and defilement of minors in Akure.

Head, Media and Public Relations of the command, SC Daniel Aidamenbor, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

According to the statement, a 22-year-old farmer, Emeka Chidi Innocent, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl on March 3.

Similarly, a 38-year-old tiler, Ayodele John, allegedly def!led a 15-year-old minor within her parents’ residence on April 13.

Aidamenbor said that preliminary investigations revealed that both suspects were known to the victims and their families prior to the incidents.

In light of the disturbing incidents, the Command, under the leadership of Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, JP, advised parents and guardians to exercise heightened vigilance in safeguarding their children and wards.

“This development underscores the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, especially minors, and ensuring that perpetrators of s3xual and gender-based violence are brought to justice,” the statement read.

“In the first case, one Emeka Chidi Innocent, a 22-year-old farmer, allegedly r@ped a 13-year-old girl at the SIB, Igbatoro area of Akure on 3rd March 2026.

“Following the incident, the suspect fled the area and remained at large for several weeks.

“Acting on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance efforts, operatives of the Corps successfully tracked and apprehended him in Idanre. He is currently in custody undergoing further investigation.

“In a separate incident, Ayodele John, a 38-year-old tiler, is alleged to have defiled a 15-year-old minor within her parents’ residence located along Oda Road, Akure.

“The offence reportedly occurred on 13th April 2026. A swift response by operatives of the Command led to the arrest of the suspect on 14th April 2026, less than 24 hours after the incident was reported.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that both suspects were known to the victims and their families prior to the incidents, a factor that raises serious concerns about trust, access, and domestic security.

“Both individuals have made confessional statements to the alleged crimes. The Command is in the process of concluding investigations, after which the suspects will be formally charged to court.

“The NSCDC assures the public that diligent prosecution will be pursued to ensure justice is served and to deter others from engaging in such heinous acts.

“In light of these disturbing incidents, the Command strongly advises parents, guardians, and members of the public to exercise heightened vigilance and responsibility in safeguarding their children and wards.

“Conduct thorough background checks and proper profiling of artisans, domestic workers, and any individuals granted access to homes

“The Command stresses that parental responsibilities must not be neglected, delegated, or outsourced, as proactive supervision remains a critical line of defense against abuse.

“The NSCDC Ondo State Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on rape, defilement, and all forms of sexual violence.

“The Corps remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, and will continue to deploy all necessary resources to combat crimes against vulnerable persons.

“Members of the public are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activities or incidents to the nearest NSCDC office or relevant security agencies.”
