Troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the JTF said troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on 20 August 2026 following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops pursued the terrorists into surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee. The rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family.
In a separate operation on 21 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, working with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Troops engaged the attackers and forced them to withdraw in disarray. During the pursuit, one terrorist was neutralized. Troops also recovered 2 mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene.
The Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA said it remains committed to sustaining operational tempo to deny terrorists freedom of action and create a safer environment across the Joint Operations Area.
The Theatre Command urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security forces to support efforts to restore lasting peace and security.
