Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have thwarted a terrorist attack, recovered an AK-47 rifle and arrested a suspected criminal in Kaduna State.
The operations were conducted between September 23 and 24, 2026.
On Sept. 23, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence of terrorists movement through bushes of Rijana in Kachia LGA, laid ambush and engaged the terrorists.
Following the engagement, troops exploited the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier and one military jungle hat, among other items.
In a separate operation same day, troops conducted clearance operation at Awom village in Kachia LGA to deny criminals safe haven.
During the operation, troops arrested a suspect identified as Mr Jacob, who was found with one fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition. The suspect is in military custody for further investigation.
The Theatre Command commended troops for vigilance and prompt response.
Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive operations to thwart terrorist activities and protect communities.
