Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled a terror attack and recovered a large herd of rustled cattle in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops, deployed for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations, acted on credible intelligence that armed terrorists had infiltrated Asarara Kaura community, terrorising residents and rustling livestock.
The troops swiftly mobilised and intercepted the fleeing terrorists along the Tambuwal–Gadaichi–Gummi Road axis. On sighting the advancing forces, the terrorists engaged the troops in a gun battle in an attempt to escape.
They were, however, overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower and fled into surrounding bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, abandoning the entire herd.
The intervention sparked jubilation in Asarara Kaura and surrounding communities, as residents trooped out to commend the troops for their bravery and prompt response.
The recovered cattle are currently in secure military custody, with arrangements concluded for handover to the Chairman of the Sokoto State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals for verification and return to rightful owners.
