Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, under Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI have foiled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists along the Buni Gari–Buratai axis in Borno State.
The troops, on routine patrol, on Sunday September 6, 2026 encountered the terrorists and responded with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.
Acting Military Information Officer
Joint Task Force Hqtrs(North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Capt Mohammed Goni in a statement on Monday said reinforcement was later deployed to clear the ambush site and exploit the surrounding area.
During the operation, troops discovered and dismantled several makeshift camps believed to be used as temporary staging and hideout locations. Items recovered include one motorcycle, bicycles, a magazine, ammunition and rocket-propelled grenade bombs.
No soldier was killed in the encounter. However, some military vehicles sustained damage. Despite this, troops remained operational and completed the mission.
Operation HADIN KAI said the operation reflects its resolve to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect communities. The security situation in the area remains calm but unpredictable as patrols continue.
The military urged the public to report suspicious movements to security agencies to aid efforts to detect and neutralise terrorist activities.
