President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr Zainab Marwa for Senate confirmation as Niger Delta Development Commission board member representing the North-East zone.
The nomination is to fill the seat vacated by Hon Abdulrazak Namdas, who resigned March 30, 2026 to contest for governor in Adamawa State, Tinubu stated.
Senate President read the request during plenary. The nomination has been referred to the Senate Committee on NDDC for screening and legislative action.
Tinubu stated in the letter that the nomination is in accordance with the NDDC Establishment Act expressing his confidence that the Senate would quickly consider Marwa’s nomination.
Tinubu said Marwa’s confirmation would ensure board continuity. NDDC oversees infrastructure and intervention projects to drive development in the Niger Delta region
After the letter was read, the Senate sent Marwa’s nomination to its Committee on NDDC for screening and more legislative steps.
The committee will review her credentials and then report back to the chamber for a final decision.
If she is confirmed, Marwa will join the NDDC Governing Board as the representative for the North-East zone.
The NDDC board oversees the commission’s work to drive development in the Niger Delta region through infrastructure, intervention projects, and other programs.
