President Bola Tinubu has asked the former Vice President and Presidential candidate of ADC, Atiku Abubakar to explain how he funded his university while serving as Vice President in charge of the economy.
Tinubu while speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in Rivers on Saturday blamed the widespread hunger in the land on Atiku Abubakar, and some of the persons who previously ran government.
He said: “Those people talking of hunger, I am cleaning the mess they created. Atiku was one of them. Ask him how he built a university while in office as Vice President in charge of our economy. Who built the university for him? It is your money!”
The President accused Atiku of using state resources for his personal advantage.
He also told Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, that he would not regret his recent political decisions and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and rainbow coalition family ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tinubu stated that during the heat of the political crisis in the state, he intervened for the governor, commending him for the maturity and respect for elders’ decision.
On the political crisis in Rivers State, Tinubu said: “Fubara, you will not regret what you have done. During the crisis created by misunderstanding in the family, for me, I intervened on your behalf, I want to thank you specifically for maturity, respect for elders, you respect our positions, you are a committed democrat, you will not regret your actions.”
The remark followed Fubara’s public declaration of support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, during which the governor pledged that Rivers State would deliver three million votes for the President in the 2027 election.
The rally attracted APC leaders, governors, political stakeholders and supporters to Port Harcourt as the party continued its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
The event held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
