Acting promptly on the information, detectives arrived at the scene and caught one of the suspects attempting to bury a blood-drenched corpse in a shallow grave, in what is suspected to be an effort to conceal the crime.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, spokesperson of the command, said preliminary examination of the body revealed a severe injury to the victim’s head.

He mentioned that further investigation indicates that the victim was allegedly attacked with a wooden pestle, while the other suspects, who are relatives of the deceased, conspired in the commission of the crime and the attempted cover-up. He added that the suspected m#rder weapon has been recovered, and the body has been deposited at the Life Channel Mortuary, Olambe, for autopsy.

Oluseyi mentioned that the suspects are currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

He encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (Toll-Free): 0800 000 9111; 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
