Three people have been burnt to death after a Mercedes Benz Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, collided with a stationary truck in Lagos on Sunday night, May 26th.
The three people were identified as the driver of the SUV and two other occupants.
The collision occured at Mandilas Bus Stop, Iyana Isolo, off Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, Dr. Femí Oke-Osanyitolu, confirmed the tragedy on Sunday.
He said: “Upon arrival at the scene at 11:38pm, an accident involving a Mercedes Benz SUV with an unknown registration number and a truck conveying a 40 feet container was encountered.
“Preliminary investigation carried out upon arrival at the scene revealed that the SUV collided with the truck due to overspeeding.
“The impact of this collision resulted in a fire outbreak from the car engine.”
The bodies of the victims trapped inside the car were evacuated by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU for transfer to the morgue.
The flat body of the truck and the carcass of the burnt vehicle were towed to the LASTMA Yard
