Ekiti State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Monisade Afuye, on Saturday participated in the governorship election by casting her vote at Atiba Aafin Ward 1, Polling Unit 003, Ikere-Ekiti.

Afuye arrived at the polling unit and voted at approximately 8:50 a.m., joining other residents who had turned out early to exercise their civic rights.

Speaking after voting, the deputy governor expressed satisfaction with the large turnout recorded across polling units, describing the level of participation as encouraging.

She noted that voters demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to the electoral process.

“You can see for yourselves how people trooped out to participate in this election. Not only trooping out, but being ready and anxious to participate in the voting. I am indeed impressed with this conduct of our voters,” she said.

Afuye added that reports from other parts of the state also indicated strong voter engagement, attributing it to effective mobilisation during campaigns.

“This shows that the rigorous campaigns that we did yield positive results,” she stated.

The APC deputy governorship candidate also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for what she described as a smooth and well-organised process.

According to her, the presence of security personnel helped ensure a peaceful voting environment across polling units.

“I have to commend INEC as well and our security agencies. They really prepared for this election. You can see that nobody is being intimidated and I believe if we continue like this, this election may turn out being the best in Ekiti history,” she said.

When asked about the possible outcome of the election, Afuye expressed confidence that incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji would secure re-election with a wide margin.

“Governor Oyebanji is not only winning this election, it is going to be with a wide margin,” she added.

Voting continued across polling units in Ekiti State amid heavy turnout and heightened political interest
