Tanzania has removed Nigerian passport holders from its referred visa category, easing the visa process for Nigerians travelling to the country.
The change took effect on September 25, 2026, following amendments published in Government Gazette No. 246 of 2026.
According to Tanzania’s Immigration Services Department, Nigerian nationals will now follow the country’s standard visa application process without undergoing the additional referral process.
Nigerians can now apply through Tanzania’s official immigration online portal or at designated entry points.
The development was announced by the Chief Spokesperson of the Tanzania Immigration Services Department, ACI Paul J. Mselle, who said the change followed the recently published amendments.
The move means Nigerian travellers can now access Tanzania’s standard visa process without the additional requirements previously applicable to them.
