Suspected bandits have abducted 10 persons, including seven members of the same family, in Unguwar Sabon-Titi along Katari–Hayin Dam axis in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Residents of Katari said the attack occurred around 9:32 p.m. on Thursday.

They said that the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed a residential compound and whisked away seven members of one family before proceeding to a neighbouring house where three other residents were abducted.

“The attackers initially operated quietly without firing shots but began shooting sporadically after leaving the community with their victims.”

“The bandits came in large numbers and surrounded my neighbour’s house before some of them entered and took away members of the family. They later moved to another house and abducted three persons,” they said.

The abducted family members were identified as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos and Godwin Amos, while the three other victims were named as Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa and Alfred Iriyo.

“The house of the DPO is very close to where the incident happened, which is believed to be why they avoided shooting at first so as not to attract attention.”

A community leader, who craved anonymity, also confirmed the attack, stating that efforts to reach security operatives at the time proved abortive.
“The moment I received the distress call, I tried contacting security personnel, but their lines were not connecting,” he said.

Residents were seen trooping to the affected homes on Friday morning to sympathise with the families of the victims.
