The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi, has appealed to criminal elements in the state to surrender before June, 2021 deadline or risk being prosecuted by the security agencies.
Governor Umahi spoke at Ezza Model Secondary School, Izzikworo, Ezza South, during the Ebonyi Central Zone grand finale of the 2021 Governor David Nweze Umahi’s Annual School Sports.
In his address, he said: “I continue to ask them to surrender and then come and get empowerment”.
Speaking further, he said:”By the first week of June, those who have not surrendered, we will allow the security agencies to do their work. So I continue to insist that they should come forward to be profiled and empowered”.
Gov. Umahi also identified juju makers and sellers of hard drugs as some of the problems bedeviling the youths. He noted: “We need to identify those who are selling hard drugs. It is also another problem. Remove these two and our children are the best. You add these two, our children do not know who is who”.
While commending the efforts of the Chairmen of the four Local Government that make up the Ebonyi Central Zone, the Governor said: “Let me thank my Local Government Chairmen on the issue of security. Some of you are doing extremely very well.
Gov. Umahi frowned at the killing of security agencies and wondered why they should be killed when they are neither the problems of the agitation or the reasons the South East are being marginalized.
On the ongoing Ebonyi State International Airport, Gov. Umahi reiterated his commitment to see to the completion of the project by December 2021. He also promised to commence the dualization of the road that is going to cross Onueke before December also.
