A strange ailment has hit Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State killing one student while four others have been hospitalized.
The five cases of the strange ailment manifest as fits/convulsions in conscious persons.
Following the discovery the Delta state government has shut down a school in Boji Boji Owa in Ika North East Local Government Area of the State.
Commissioner for Health in the state Mordi Ononye in a statement assured members of the public not to panic .
He asssured that measures are already in place to contain the spread of the ailment with samples from the patients sent to the National Reference Laboratory Abuja for detailed analysis.
According to the Commissioner for Health, the National Centre For Disease Control(NCDC) has also been notified.
The Ministry of Health has advised that any case of this nature should be reported immediately to the nearest government-owned hospital.
