The Nigerian Police Force has urged British national Andrew Wynne, who is currently wanted, to come out of hiding and answer questions related to the #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria.

The police had on Monday declared  Wynne wanted for allegedly attempting to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu by sponsoring the #EndBadGovernance protest.

Wynne, speaking from an undisclosed location, criticized the government for repressing the protesters.

However, Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, stated that Wynne had been contacted multiple times but has remained elusive.

“We have reached out to Wynne several times, but he has stayed faceless,” Adejobi said.

He mentioned that the police had even visited Wynne’s bookshop, but he failed to show up.

“If you have a legitimate business, wouldn’t you want to know why the police came to your shop or office? Up till now, he has not shown up. We have traced his private school, visited the premises, and questioned his staff. Yet, he remains in hiding. So, where is he, and why is he speaking from the shadows, claiming he has no case to answer?”

Adejobi emphasized that this is not a matter of debate, as the police have fulfilled their duties as a responsible security institution.

He stated that the police have established charges against Wynne and have already declared him wanted, with his accomplices being charged in court.

“Let him come out. Those people worked for him. As a good leader, businessman, and the mastermind who mobilized sleeper cells to create unrest in Nigeria, he should come forward. Let him prove to his followers that he is a good leader. Let him come and meet us,” Adejobi declared.

Adejobi further mentioned that Wynne had suggested being questioned via Zoom, which the police rejected due to the seriousness of the charges against him.

“I am calling on him once again—if he’s a genuine businessman in Nigeria, let Andrew Wynne report to the police to address these unresolved issues,” Adejobi said.
