Justice Muhammed Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has threatened to foreclose the defence of activist Omoyele Sowore if he fails to continue his defence.
The judge made the order at the resumed sitting on Monday due to the absence of Sowore’s lawyers. Sowore was present in court, but none of his counsel attended.
Sowore told the court that Olumide Fusika, SAN, was in the United Kingdom with the court’s knowledge, while another lawyer, Rahpel Adakole, was out of jurisdiction. He prayed for an adjournment to allow his lawyers to appear and to move an application orally.
Justice Umar said Sowore could only move the application if he intended to defend himself
