Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu has dismissed reports alleging that his administration donated a car and shop to Kaduna-based TikToker Rahama Saidu.

The governor’s spokesperson Abubakar Bawa made the clarification in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement one Sanin Jaman is responsible for the the donation, which appeared in a viral social media video.

The statement further clarified that the donation had no connection to the state government, warning against carrying out donations in the Governor’s name or that of the government without consultation, saying such acts could mislead the public.

The statement outlined the government’s nine-point SMART agenda. This plan aims to address insecurity, promote moral values, support vulnerable groups, empower youth, improve environmental sanitation, and strengthen education and healthcare services.

Governor Aliyu added that many people in Sokoto who have been displaced by banditry, as well as other vulnerable residents, still need help.

He urged individuals and businesses to support the government’s efforts.

“I want to make it categorically clear that the said donation has nothing to do with Governor Ahmed Aliyu. It was purely personal between the two of them – the giver and the beneficiary,”

“There are proper and more impactful ways through which support can be provided to benefit residents of the state,” he added.

“We have many displaced persons, especially in areas affected by banditry and even within the metropolis, who are in dire need of assistance. Despite the various interventions already provided by the state government, there is still room for individuals and corporate bodies to support these efforts.”
