Akin Olowokere, the newly appointed Assistant Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Ibadan, Oyo State has reportedly slumped and died during a training session.
Olowokere, a former player and later tactician with Sunshine Stars of Akure, who joined the Oluyole Warriors’ new technical crew following the exit of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching team died on Monday, August 11th.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the soft-spoken coach “slumped on the pitch during the team’s Monday morning training session and was rushed to the hospital.”
“He was, however, confirmed dead at the hospital where he was rushed to,” a source said.
He collapsed while actively participating in training drills, which led to immediate medical attention before he was taken to a hospital whose location has not been disclosed.
Before his appointment at 3SC, Olowokere had been a familiar face at Sunshine Stars, where he played for several years before moving into a coaching role.
He previously served as an assistant coach under head coach Edith Agoye and earned a reputation as a dedicated and humble figure in the world of football.
