Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has emerged as the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the Kano Central senate seat at the 2023 general election.
Shekarau won the party’s ticket unopposed at the primaries in Gezawa, headquarters of Gezawa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano state.
The former governor, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored a total of 516 votes in the affirmative polls.
Dr. Abdullahi Baffa also won the NNPP ticket for Kano North, while Mr. Kawu Sumaila got the ticket for Kano South.
While Kawu was a former Special Adviser to President Buhari, Baffa was the former Executive Secretary, TETFUND Both men defected from the All Progressives Congress at different times.
