The embattled chairman of the Taraba State’s chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, said he has filed an appeal against the recent judgment of the State High Court.

Recall that Bawa was recently sacked from office by the presiding judge of the State High Court, Justice Nuhu Adi, on the ground that his appointment as the party’s substantive chairman was “unconstitutional.”

Bawa, on Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital, announced that he has appealed the judgment in the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, Yola Judicial Division.

He made available to journalists copies of his notice of appeal, stating that he was not satisfied with the judgment of Justice Nuhu Adi delivered on July 17, 2023.

Part of his notice of appeal reads: “That the applicant who was the second defendant before the trial court, being dissatisfied with the judgment of the Taraba State High Court of Justice, Jalingo Judicial Division, do hereby appeal to the Court of Appeal.”

The leadership tussle between Bawa and Alhaji Inuwa Bakari has impacted negatively on the party, leading to the sealing of the party’s secretariat.

The warring duo has been directed by the Taraba State Police Command to distance themselves from the party’s premises pending when the raging crisis is amicably resolved.

Both Bakari and Bawa, at the time of filing this report, have continued to lay claim to the chairmanship position of the party.

The imbroglio has continued to worsen despite the constitution of a committee by the state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to resolve the differences.
