Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dispelled claims that Rivers State was under siege, saying that the state remains peaceful.
The Governor made this clarification while inspecting the Omodu-Eberi-Omuma Road in Omuma Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
Speaking at Egbelu Junction in Omuma during the inspection, Fubara stated that government activities are functioning normally and residents are going about their legitimate businesses without hindrance.
He noted that the inspection of projects was intended to correct any erroneous impressions about the state’s condition.
The governor also mentioned that the road project, initially planned to be eight kilometres and commissioned as part of the first anniversary celebrations, had to be extended by 14.6 kilometres to link the neighbouring Abia State
