The Rivers State Government (RSG) has reaffirmed its longstanding partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) through the execution of a project to provide two blocks of 12 x 2-bedroom accommodation for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers at NAF Base, Port Harcourt.

The completed project was commissioned in a milestone event held on 9 December 2024, highlighting the commitment of the Fubara-led administration to strengthening the welfare and operational readiness of security agencies in Rivers State.

Speaking at the event, His Excellency Sir Siminialaye Fubara emphasized the critical role of the NAF and other security agencies in maintaining peace and fostering development in the state.

He disclosed that the project reflects the appreciation of the NAF’s contributions to peace and security in Rivers State.

He further emphasized his commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance personnel welfare and operational capacity.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning ceremony, commended the RSG for prioritizing personnel welfare, a cornerstone of his Command Philosophy, focused on maintaining a highly motivated force through welfare and infrastructure renewal.

He described the new accommodations as “a symbol of the synergy between NAF and the Rivers Government” that enhances morale and contributes to operational efficiency.

He noted that over the years, Rivers State has supported NAF operations, with the Service reciprocating through anti-bunkering air operations that bolster security and economic growth.

At the event, the CAS reiterated the NAF’s unalloyed loyalty to the President, Commander-in-Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, whose unwavering support had ushered the NAF into a renaissance in terms of fleet revitalisation for enhanced operational effectiveness.

Subsequently, the CAS seized the opportunity of being in Port Harcourt, to assess operational readiness at the 115 Special Operations Group (SOG) and highlighted plans to induct 38 new aircraft in 2025, enhancing security in Rivers State and across the country.

This housing project executed by the Fubara-led RSG exemplifies civil-military cooperation at its best, ensuring shared progress, security, and prosperity.
