The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Election duties in Rivers State, CP Echeng Echeng has promised to investigate the murder of the Campaign Director-General for the All Progressives Congress in Ahoada West, Chisom Lenard.
The Commissioner tasked operatives of the command to to deploy all necessary human and investigative assets to ensure that the killers face justice.
The deceased was kidnapped by the gunmen dressed in police uniform while voting for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections was ongoing at Ibagwa polling unit 2 ward 10 in Ahoada West.
His body was found riddled with bullets in a pool of his blood along the Ibueahi-Ubeta road in Ahoada West on Saturday evening.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
“From information gathered, the Campaign DG was shot by yet to identified gunmen in the afternoon of Saturday 18th March, 2023.
The Commissioner of Police commiserate with family of the bereaved and promised to bring perpetrators of such heinous crime to justice.” the statement read.
