About five cars in the residence were vandalised during the attack by the hoodlums on Thursday morning, December 8, 2022.

Maeba, an ally of PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who confirmed the attack said the attackers were searching for him.

The PDP presidential campaign chairman, who came into Port Harcourt on Thursday morning December 8, said neighbours observed strange movements around his residence.

He said a young man called him to warn him about the planned attack.

Maeba said his house was attacked shortly after he went out to visit his mother-in-law.

He said;

“A young man called me with a number that I don’t know and told me that I have done him a favour before but that I should be careful if I’m at home.

“That they have an instruction from some quarters to attack my house and attack me and I dismissed that I have no problem with anybody.

“I drove out with my security personnel to see my mother-in-law. As I just entered my mother in-law’s house the next thing my phone was ringing, my nephew just picked up the phone and said our house is under attack

“They shot at the gate and force the gate open. They tied the gateman and shouted where is he?

“The next thing they did was shoot at the cars. What is my offence? Atiku does not live here. I am a democrat and I don’t have any plan to harm anybody,” Maeba said.

About three persons were reportedly injured during the attack on the residence of the former senator who represented Rivers South East at the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police in Rivers State, Effiong Okon said investigation into the matter has commenced.

The commissioner assured that he will personally visit the scene of the incident.
