The House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Security in Plateau, has visited the State as part of moves to proffer a lasting solution to rising insecurity in the State.
Dr Adewale Ahmed, the Chairman of the committee, led the team to Jos on Monday to visit Gov. Caleb Mutfwang.
The governor was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo.
Ahmed said that the resurgence of violent attacks, killing of innocent citizens and destruction of property in the state, had assumed an alarming dimension.
He added that rising insecurity necessitated the house of representatives to constitute a special committee.
Ahmed, who said that President Bola Tinubu was putting every modality in place to arrest the situation, called for a holistic approach towards addressing the challenge.
“The national assembly, particularly the house of representatives is worried by the ongoing security challenges in Plateau.
“This is why the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas constituted this committee to look into remote and immediate causes of the conflicts.
“We have started work already; we have received memoranda from different groups and organisations from the state.
“However, we are here to hold a conference, where all stakeholders will appear and make presentations; our aim is to have lasting peace on the Plateau,” he said.
Earlier, Mutfwang, thanked the house of representatives for constituting the committee, aimed at addressing the security challenges in the state.
The governor particularly thanked Tinubu for the commitment towards ending the security issues in the state.
He said that though the security situation in the state was deteriorating, the governor said that his administration was doing a lot to curb the situation.
He also promised that government would support the committee towards the actual situation of its mandate.
