Protesters on Sunday took to the streets to justice for Ibrahim Mbaya, popularly known as Ibee, a University of Jos graduate who was allegedly tortured to death after being accused of stealing an iPhone 12.
The demonstrators condemned mob justice and called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute everyone involved in the killing.
They described Ibee’s death as a tragic reminder of the dangers of jungle justice, insisting that no one should be tortured or killed over an allegation without due process.
The protesters also urged authorities to ensure justice is served and called for an end to mob violence across the country.
Carrying placards with inscriptions such as #JusticeForIbee and #EndMobJustice, the demonstrators called for reforms that would protect citizens from extrajudicial killings.
As of press time, police authorities in Plateau State had not released an official statement on the incident.
