Police Recover Illicit Drugs, Arrest 3 Suspects In Jigawa Raids

The Jigawa State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected drug dealers and recovered more than 5,600 pieces of suspected illicit drugs in a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the suspects were identified as Umar Rabiu, 22, of Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad, 25, of Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu, 25, of Kuka village.

He said coordinated raids targeting the sale, distribution and abuse of illicit substances led to the recovery of 5,676 pieces of assorted suspected drugs.

According to the police, the exhibits include 3,833 tablets of Exol, 204 tablets of Tramadol, 919 tablets of Diazepam, 114 capsules of Pregabalin, 101 containers of rubber solution, 30 Lara capsules, bottles of codeine syrup, two litres of a substance known as “Suck and Die”, as well as one block and 475 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

The operatives also recovered ₦93,626, believed to be proceeds from the illicit drug trade.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives and warned those involved in drug trafficking to desist or face the full weight of the law. Police said the three suspects have been arraigned in court.
