The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspects for alleged defilement of three minors and sexual assault of vulnerable person.
The Spokesperson for command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in statement on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
According to statement, incidents occurred across Ningi, Katagum, Shira and Bauchi metropolitan areas between October 8 and 10, 2026.
Habib said command in its efforts against sexual and gender-based violence, SGBV, arrested suspects for separate offences.
He said first case involved 10-year-old girl allegedly defiled by 50-year-old neighbour, Musa Ibrahim, alias Musa Fawa, in Gadar Maiwa Village, Ningi LGA. Case was reported by victim’s father on October 9, with police saying victim was taken to General Hospital, Ningi, for medical examination.
Second case involves 20-year-old suspect, Yakubu Musa, of Layin Da’u Mai Itace, Azare, who allegedly lured 11-year-old girl to empty classroom at Bakoshi Primary School, Azare, in September and October. Case was also reported on October 9.
Third incident was reported on October 8 at Yana Division, Shira LGA, involving 40-year-old Abdullahi Sule of Dago Village, who allegedly assaulted 12-year-old girl. Police said investigation revealed suspect allegedly lured victim on multiple occasions.
In separate incident, 55-year-old John Madaki was arrested over alleged rape of 20-year-old woman with intellectual disability in Bauchi metropolis on October 10.
Habib said all suspects have been arrested and cases have been directed by Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, to State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for investigation and prosecution.
Command reiterated zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, especially against minors and vulnerable persons, and urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and promptly report suspicious acts.
