They were arrested on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, following distress call reporting extortion by officers in area.

Police reportedly recovered 15 drivers’ licences from suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicated that some motorists had their licences seized and were allegedly asked to pay between ₦50,000 and ₦183,000 to get them back.

Maitama Division has forwarded its report to superior authorities as investigations continue to identify affected motorists and establish what happened.

Suspects remain under investigation, and allegations have not been proven in court.
