The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Faith Ajoke Alayande, 23, a student of the Nigerian Law School who was found dead at the institution’s hostel in Victoria Island on Friday, August 7, 2026.

According to the police, the incident was reported at about 6:30am by the Chief Matron of the Law School after the student was found unresponsive within the hostel premises.

The Command Spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident to The Punch. She said another student and a relative had earlier found a note written by the deceased and raised the alarm.

“I can confirm the incident. The matron of the hostel reported the matter, prompting police operatives to visit the scene. Her body has been evacuated to a morgue for preservation,” Adebisi said.

The police spokesperson added that an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Law School management has not released an official statement as of press time.
