Police Busts Armed Robbery Syndicate In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has busted members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate who specialize in breaking into people’s homes using charms. 

Three members of the syndicate Abdullahi Sa’idu, Umar Abubakar Faruk, Zakariyya Hussaini were arrested based on tip off.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, September 20, said the robbers have been terrorizing Daura Local Government Area and its environs.

“On 12/09/2022 at about 1600hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting/busting a notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing Daura LGA and its environs,” the statement read.

“Nemesis caught up with the following suspects: Abdullahi Sa’idu, ‘M’, aged 50yrs of Hadejia, Jigawa state, Umar Abubakar Faruk, ‘M’, aged 23yrs of Badawa Quarters, Kano state, and Zakariyya Hussaini, ‘M’, aged 25yrs, of Yar Leman, Hadejia, Jigawa state, when they conspired and forcefully broke into the houses of (1) Idris Ahmed alias Baban Hajiya, (2) Mujihabi Yusif (3) Sa’a Abdu, ‘F’ (4) Ibrahim Sani, “M”, (5) Umar Sani, ‘M’, of the same address, and robbed them of their belongings.

“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have been using criminal charms that will make the house holds to fall asleep until they finish committing their nefarious act. 

“They also confessed to have gotten the charms from one ritualist in Niger Republic.

“The following exhibits were recovered; (1) fabricated keys (2) House breaking implements (3) one machete (4) five (5) different handsets (5) one Iron Pinches (6) Criminal Charms. Suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.” he added.
