Confirming their arrest to newsmen, the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, said the suspects boarded the cab as passengers from Ojota on the pretext that they were going to Fela Shrine but that during the trip, the duo tried to kill the driver in a carjacking.

He said the men brought out a gun and robbed the Uber driver of the sum of N80,000, a Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone and other personal belongings.

According to the police boss, luck however ran against the suspects when the victim raised an alarm that attracted a police patrol team on routine patrol in the area.

“The policemen reacted swiftly and chased the suspects leading to the arrest of two of the robbers while others escaped. One English made revolver pistol was recovered from the arrested suspects.

The suspects were identified as Michael Tobiloba ‘m’ aged 23 and Ismaila Yusuf ‘m’ aged 18. Both suspects also confessed to be members of the Buccaneer confraternity” the police boss said.
