The Borno State Police Command has arrested a fake herbalist, Isiyaku Adamu, for allegedly defiling two minors under the guise of casting out evil spirits.

The Spokesperson of the command, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, January 19, 2024.

He said police operatives also foiled a robbery attack by a criminal group, arrested 10 other suspects for tricycle and car theft and recovered stolen items.

“On the 25th December 2023 at about 1700HRS, a case of rape was reported at Monguno Police Division, that on the same date at about 1400HRS one Isiyaku Adamu 23yrs who paraded himself as a herbalist lured two girls aged 13yrs and 14yrs inside their room under the guise of casting evil spirit and then inserted his right-hand finger inside their vagina. The case is under investigation, the suspect will be prosecuted in court,” the statement read.

“On the 16th January 2024 at about 2030HRS Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while on a routine patrol, received a distress call at Moduganari area that unknown persons suspected to be Malians in a tricycle with *REG NO. GBL 242QA* and *BODY NO. GRA 3035* snatched by Tecno T9 Handset from one Alhaji Mohammed while riding his bicycle on the roadside

“The team swiftly responded and gave the tricycle a hot pursuit. The suspects abandoned the tricycle and the snatched handset. The tricycle has been recovered as an exhibit; the investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects,”

The police spokesperson further disclosed that the command arrested four suspects who stole a tricycle in the Baga road area of Maiduguri.

“On the 15/1/2024, at about 1900HRS based on a tip-off, Lamisula Division arrested 5 suspects (1) Abubakar Ali (2) Nasiru Suleiman (3) Idrisa Alkali (4) Musa Shettima who conspired and stole one tricycle with *REG NO. BG 6638* and Plate *NO. JRE 852 WG* which was previously reported stolen in the Baga road area of Maiduguri, the tricycle has been recovered and an investigation is ongoing to arrest two (2) fleeing suspects at large.

“On the 15/1/2023 at about 1450HRS one Isyaku Alhaji Ibrahim of Pompomari-bypass reported to Police Area Command Metro that on the 14/1/2024 at about 22HRS his personal vehicle one Honda discussion continued with *REG NO KWA 656 AE* Golden Colour parked at Pompomari housing estate Maiduguri got missing

“Investigation further led to the arrest of 5 suspects (1) Haruna Abubakar 16yrs (2) Sale Musa 13yrs (3) Ali Musa Umar 15yrs and (4) Abacha Mohammed 17yrs all of Federal low cost.

“The suspects later confessed to the crime. The vehicle has been recovered and the case will be charged to court.”

“The Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring safety and security and also advice the good people of Borno state to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or avail themselves with the following emergency contacts 08068075581, 08069941935.”
